Cooperative Extension & Outreach
The Sherman Lewis School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences offers Cooperative Extension and Outreach Programs which synergistically link Langston University to communities throughout Oklahoma and beyond.
A strong Cooperative Extension program is central to the mission of a Land-Grant University. The aim of extension and outreach programs is to disseminate research-based educational information in response to the needs of producers and consumers.

PROGRAMS THAT NURTURE
Beekeeping
From hobbyists to commercial growers, relocating honeybee colonies is just one of the many ways the Langston University honeybee extension program helps people across Oklahoma.
Anyone can find beekeeping training programs and resources online; however, that material pales in comparison to hands-on training in the field. This is where LU’s honeybee extension program excels.
The program has helped a disabled veteran from Kingfisher County with his therapeutic hobby. A beekeeper in Choctaw has quadrupled his honey production with assistance from the Langston University Sherman Lewis School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.
Sky Wrangler
Langston University students in the Drone Technology and Precision Agriculture team conduct research with drones. The goal of thi research is to develop a smart but inexpensive drone that can help manage livestock and pasture for farmers. Students are encouraged to study for and earn their commercial drone pilot license.
