Langston University offers Cooperative Extension and Outreach Program (CEOP) activities in 55 Oklahoma counties.
Designed to provide targeted, responsive support to clientele statewide, our regionally based educators address local issues in Oklahoma’s northwest, southwest, northeast and southeast regions.
Working Shoulder to Shoulder with Communities
Langston University CEOP:
- Partners with Kiowa, Comanche and Apache communities to establish gardens and small-scale farms
- Offers spring-summer workshops and hands-on demonstrations
- Integrates innovative technologies to strengthen local communities statewide
- Provides high impact producer support through beekeeping program
- Offers community nutrition training through master food preserver and field to table grains programs
- Provides education and product development for goat milk cheese, and goat and sheep meat
Internationally Recognized Research
Langston University CEOP is at the forefront in research:
- Dairy Herd Improvement Laboratory benefits 640 goat herds across 43 states and more than 20 Oklahoma counties
- Emerging topic research focuses on antimicrobial gene resistance in Oklahoma livestock
- Leading research to develop improved diagnostic tools and preventative strategies for Johne’s Disease and Regulatory Mechanisms
- Couples research and extension in analysis of chemical versus organic fertilizer for growing watermelon varieties

Training the Next Generation
Offering off- and on-site summer internships to students through USDA agencies, Oklahoma Dairy and Agriculture (ODAFF), research stations and agribusiness companies
Year-round on campus research mentorship program provides students with real-world experiences and the opportunity to build and strengthen research skills
