Division of Student Affairs
Office of Residential Life and Housing Services
Dear Future and Current Lions,
On behalf of the Office of Residential Life and Housing Services (RLHS), we would like to welcome you to Langston University. We look forward to having you be a part of our on-campus living community.
All students must complete a housing application, which includes the terms of the agreement, room assignment and meal plan selection. We urge students and parents to read through this information carefully and review the RLHS Community Standards, and the Student Code of Conduct, to ensure your familiarity with our university policies and student resident responsibilities. Learn more about each of these items below.
Please note, there is a 60-hour residency requirement that applies to all full-time students. Traditional meal plans are required for all students who reside in traditional living areas: Centennial Court Apartments (Freshmen Village), Scholars’ Inn Apartments and Young Hall. This requirement is rooted in data relating to student success, access to support services, and provides a healthy pathway towards life after college. Learn more about the on-campus living requirements, how to apply and housing options below.
Most importantly, if you have any questions regarding the residential areas, life on-campus, policies, etc., you may contact the main housing office at Scholars’ Inn Clubhouse by phone at 405-466-6028 or 405-346-6403 and by email at luhousing@langston.edu.
Welcome to our new and returning Lions!.
We wish you the best this Academic School Year and go Lions!
Best,

Residential Living Areas
Langston University consists of four areas to foster a “home-away-from-home” atmosphere for all Langston students. The residential areas consist of the following:
- Centennial Court Apartments — This apartment complex affectionately known as, “Freshmen Village,” is home to our first-time entering freshmen students. Each apartment consists of four bedrooms (with twin XL size beds) with a shared kitchen, living room, and two-bathroom spaces. On-property laundry services are available in the Centennial Court Clubhouse.
- Langston Commons Apartments — Also known as the ‘The Commons,” this apartment complex serves as home to our upperclassmen honor students, non-traditional students, faculty, and staff members. These apartments are two-bedroom units (with full-size beds) with full kitchens and washer/dryer units provided. All apartments are fully furnished with all bills paid.
- Scholars’ Inn Apartments — Multiple rooming options exist within this apartment complex. Students can reside within two or three-bedroom (with full-size beds) apartments. This residential area houses Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. On-property laundry services are available in the Scholars Inn Clubhouse.
- Young Hall — Within this residential area, Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors can reside within Langston University’s only traditional residence hall. The residence hall consists of single-room options with community showering areas and twin XL size bedrooms. On-property laundry services are available on both the female and male sides of the building.
We pride ourselves on the outstanding service we provide for our on-campus community of residents. Residential Life and Housing Services (RLHS) is equipped with an incredible staff that serves within the Division of Student Affairs. Each of the five residential living areas for students and Langston University employees are overseen by a Resident Director.
A Resident Director (RD) is a full-time live-in staff member who oversees the residential area, our Graduate Assistants (GAs) and our numerous Resident Assistants (RAs). GAs and RAs are our paraprofessional staff members who are students and serve as peer mentors and they are a valuable resource for our residents and assist in enforcing Langston University and RLHS policies.

Students with Disabilities
If you require accommodation for a disability, you must register with the Title IX Services Office. The Title IX Services Office communicates any housing requirements necessary to Residential Life and Housing Services (RLHS) so we can make appropriate accommodations for you. To be considered for academic accommodations, please provide a copy of your high school IEP or 504 that indicates your disability, the academic accommodations to be provided, and if the documentation was completed by the qualified examiner, physician, licensed psychologist, or psychiatrist stating your disability, the academic accommodation needed, with the name, signature, and credentials of a licensed professional. Please send the documentation to LU Title IX Services Office, Page Hall, Room 117 and 119 or email it to soncearay.c.higgins@langston.edu or marquita.bailey@langston.edu.
Assistance Animals
Students must register their disability with the Title IX Services Office before bringing an assistance animal on campus. Residents who need accommodation for an Emotional Support Animal (ESA) will need to contact the Title IX Services Office before the animal is allowed on campus. To be considered for an emotional support animal or service animal, applicants must:
- Complete a Request for Services-Emotional Support Animal application.
- Provide a full-body photo of the animal.
- Provide updated immunization documentation for the animal
- An ESA letter must be written by a licensed mental health professional including the diagnosis of disability, need and recommendation for ESA, provider’s contact information, type of animal, provider’s credentials, your (the applicant) information, and the provider’s signature.
Please deliver the required documentation to LU Title IX Services Office, Page Hall, Room 117 and 119 and/or email it to soncearay.c.higgins@langston.edu or marquita.bailey@langston.edu.
If you have questions or concerns regarding housing at Langston University, please email Title IX Officers soncearay.c.higgins@langston.edu and marquita.bailey@langston.edu or call 405-466-3223 or 405-466-3238 to discuss options. Diversity in all its forms is central to a healthy and dynamic community, and we are working with all students to ensure everyone who desires the on-campus experience can reside on campus in a safe, comfortable environment.
There is a 60-hour residency requirement that applies to all full-time students. Traditional meal plans are required for all students who reside in traditional living areas: Centennial Court Apartments (Freshmen Village), Scholars’ Inn Apartments, and Young Hall. This requirement is rooted in data relating to student success and provides a healthy pathway toward life after college. If a student leaves the University before the end of his/her housing contract, the student is responsible for all housing charges for the duration of the contract. The housing contract should be read immediately once received.
In the Langston Commons Apartments, both residents, whether married or unmarried parents, must be enrolled in order to live in the facility. Pets are not allowed in any of the apartments with the exception of approved Emotional Support and Service Animals. Animals must be approved by the ADA Compliance Officer before they are allowed on campus. All housing rates and related fees are subject to change upon approval by the Board of Regents.
Residency and Meal Plan Exemption Process
Langston University, in unique circumstances, may exempt a residential student from the required residency or meal plan for a documented medical condition, religious dietary observance, or reasons listed below.
Reason for requesting a residency exemption:
- You have earned 60 or more credit hours and do not live in campus housing.
- You have a documented disability that requires off-campus accommodation (Requires a doctor’s verification).
- You are married or will be married by the first day of classes and will live off-campus (Requires a copy of your marriage license).
- You live in a property owned by your parents or legal guardians within a 30-mile driving distance from Langston University (Requires address verification).
- You are a part-time or graduate student and do not live on campus.
The process for applying for a residency exemption is as follows:
- Download the Meal Plan/Residency Exemption Form.
- Complete the form with supporting documents.
- Email to luhousing@langston.edu or submit to documents at the Scholars Inn Clubhouse.
All students are highly encouraged to complete a housing application before requesting a residency exemption.
Reasons for requesting a Meal Plan exemption:
- You have a medical dietary need that cannot be met by the meal plan (requires a doctor’s verification).
- You have a religious dietary need that the meal plan cannot fulfill (requires a letter from your spiritual leader).
The process for applying for a Meal Plan exemption is as follows:
- Download the Meal Plan/Residency Exemption Form.
- Complete the form with supporting documents.
- Email to luhousing@langston.edu or submit to documents at the Scholars Inn Clubhouse
The deadline for submission of all documents will be 2 weeks before classes start in all semesters. Any exemptions requested after this deadline will not be considered.
Once the submission is received, the Office of Residential Life and Housing Services will forward the request to the review panel to assess the submitted documentation. Please note that the review process may take three weeks to finalize. A notification of the exemption request decision will be sent to your Langston email.
Please note: You may be asked to provide additional documentation or meet with a review panel member for more information. Your submission does not confirm your exemption. Again, all applicants are strongly encouraged to complete a housing application to confirm a room assignment before completing an exemption request.
