The Langston University Concert Band offers an exciting and enriching experience for instrumental music students, with a focus on refining musicianship and technical skills. Comprised primarily of non-music majors, this ensemble provides an opportunity for students to engage in the study and performance of challenging concert literature. 

The Concert Band performs a wide-ranging repertoire of classical music, spanning multiple historical periods. The pieces selected for the ensemble are carefully chosen to challenge and inspire, allowing students to develop advanced technical abilities, musical interpretation, and ensemble coordination. Through the performance of this diverse and demanding literature, students gain valuable experience in tackling complex musical works while honing their individual and collective skills. 

Serving as both a learning platform and a performance opportunity, the Concert Band encourages growth in both musicianship and leadership. The Langston University Pride Jazz Band, affectionately known as “P-Jazz,” is the university’s high-energy, big band ensemble, offering an exciting platform for students to explore and perform a wide variety of jazz genres. From Swing and Latin Jazz to Contemporary Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Afro-Cuban, Blues, and Avant-Garde, P-Jazz delivers dynamic performances that showcase the diverse and evolving landscape of jazz music. 

P-Jazz provides students with the opportunity to develop their improvisational skills, express their musical individuality, and collaborate with fellow musicians in a fun, supportive environment. The ensemble’s repertoire spans the rich history of jazz, allowing musicians to explore both classic and modern styles while refining their technical abilities and musical expression. 

As an essential aspect of P-Jazz, students frequently collaborate and interact  alongside guest artists, clinicians, and professional jazz musicians, gaining invaluable insights and experience.
