Second Morrill Act 135th Anniversary Celebrations
1890 Land-Grant Institutions
August 30, 2025, will mark the 135th anniversary of the Second Morrill Act of 1890. This legislation was key in establishing historically Black land-grant universities, called the 1890 Universities. Langston University is one of the nineteen 1890 Universities in the United States today.
The countdown to the 135th Anniversary Commemoration of the Second Morrill Act is underway, and preparations are gaining momentum across the 1890 university community.
