Center for Information Technology Research
The Center for Information Technology Research (CITR) at Langston University in Oklahoma is a multi-disciplinary research unit. The mission of the CITR is to:
- Create, establish and maintain IT research in the institution’s campuses to enhance its performance statewide, nationwide, and worldwide;
- Promote student and faculty interest in the study and research in IT;
- Strengthen academic units towards their accreditation (ABET, AACBS…);
- Identify and rationalize the capabilities of the institution to conduct graduate programs at MS, PhD level;
- Advance the state of current research and practice in IT;
- Provide the community with a forum for interdisciplinary work on IT related issues;
- Enhancing the performance of individuals involved in the CITR activities;
- Attract researchers and practitioners from Academia, Business, Industry, and Government into IT related projects.
- Take advantage of the status of the institution by heavily contracting with US government agencies and private sector.
IRB Policies and Procedures EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is designed to ascertain the acceptability of all proposed human subject research at Langston University. The IRB is primarily concerned with protection (level of risk) of human subjects in research, an essential function on all universities engaged in research. The IRB at Langston University consists of no less than ten (10) members who are selected based on experience and expertise in professional and community affairs and consideration of gender, racial and cultural background. At least one member shall represent a non-scientific interest (e.g., lawyer, ethicist, or member of the clergy). At least one student member is represented.
