Department of English and Foreign Languages

If you enjoy reading and writing, Langston University’s English program is just what you need to perfect your skills and explore a world of career options for English majors. Develop and diversify your writing skills and become a well-rounded writer prepared for a variety of professional opportunities with an English degree from Langston University.

It is the mission of the Department of English and Foreign Languages to develop in students a proficiency and an appreciation for the past and present structure of the English language and its related literature. We are also passionate about teaching students to speak, read and write Spanish or French, and cultivating an appreciation for these and other cultures.

Degree Options

The Department of English and Foreign Languages offers two plans of study that lead to the Bachelor of Arts degree in English and the Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education. Minors are available in two foreign languages: Spanish and French. The faculty, 80% percent of whom have doctorate degrees, prepare the entire student body for written language proficiency.
