Scholarships
The Edwin P. McCabe Honors Program offers many opportunities from presentations by world renowned scholars to international travels. With the support and guidance of administrators and fellow peers of Langston University’s McCabe Honors Program, you will be challenged and prepared for future success.
- Scholars must take honors courses designed to develop communication skills, analytical thinking, creativity and leadership. Additional requirements include:
- High level of scholarship
- Community Service
- Honors Thesis
The Edwin P. McCabe Honors Program awards the McCabe and Regents Scholarships – premier scholarships for incoming freshmen. Scholarship recipients are guaranteed membership in the McCabe Honors Program and enrollment in general education honors courses.
AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS THROUGH THE MCCABE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
I. Scholarships
A. McCabe Scholarship
Covers the following costs after all federal and state grants and/or scholarships have been applied:
- Tuition and Fees up to 18 credit hours per semester
- Basic Room and Board charges in designated campus housing
- Textbook Stipend
B. Regents Scholarship
Covers the following costs:
- Basic Room and Board charges in designated campus housing
II. Eligibility Requirements
A. All Applicants
- First-time freshman (may have been an early entry student in high school)
- United States citizen, Permanent Resident, Resident Alien, or Naturalized Citizen
- Undocumented immigrant with application for legalized status
B. McCabe Applicants
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 (UNWEIGHTED) for high school and college (concurrent/dual enrollment) courses
- Minimum ACT composite score of 22 or SAT equivalent
C. Regents Applicants
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.3 (UNWEIGHTED) for high school and college (concurrent/dual enrollment) course
- Minimum ACT composite score of 20

SCHOLARS’ CLUB
All scholars must participate in the LU Scholars’ Club and pay annual dues. Scholars are required to participate in all Scholars’ Club activities unless an excused absence is approved by the Director. Required activities will be provided to students via intra-campus mail and via Club minutes, flyers and other forms of communication. Election of officers is held each April for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Officers serve for one year.
ALPHA CHI, OKLAHOMA DELTA CHAPTER AT LANGSTON UNIVERSITY
Alpha Chi is a coeducational academic honor society that admits students from all academic disciplines. Since 1922, its purpose has been to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who achieve such distinction. Membership is limited to the top 10 percent of an institution’s juniors, seniors and graduate students. Invitation to membership comes only through an institutional chapter. The Oklahoma Delta Chapter of Alpha Chi at Langston University is pleased with the outstanding accomplishments of its members.
