Degree Options

Bachelor of Business Administration: Finance

Finance Plan of Study

Finance introduces students to the value of financial analysis for business entities, commercial banks, securities firms and government agencies. Managers of finance make judgments about the validity of resource investments, their risks, and their expected benefits. Initial positions in finance include capital budgeting, operations analysis and credit management. Students may expect to progress professionally as they demonstrate high-order perceptive abilities in managing, financing, and regulating enterprise activities. On the completion of this degree, you will have knowledge and understanding of:

Financial analysis for business entities, commercial banks, securities firms, and government agencies;
Investments, their risks, and their expected benefits;
Capital budgeting, operations and analysis;
Credit management, financial services, and retail brokerage sales;
Financial markets, financial planning and asset valuation; and
Risk management and economic theory.

Students who wish to major in any of the School of Business programs will be considered PRE-BUSINESS MAJORS until officially admitted to the School. Students must apply for entrance into a specific School of Business program during the second semester of their sophomore year. To be formally admitted to the School of Business, a student must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Minimum GPA of 2.5
  2. Completion of at least 45 credit hours of college level work;
  3. At least grade of “B” in Principles of Macro & Micro Economics
  4. At least a grade of “B” in College Algebra and Survey of Mathematics or Applied Calculus
  5. At least a grade of “C” in English Composition I, II and Advanced Composition or Technical Writing
Bachelor of Business Administration: Financial Economics

Financial Economics is designed to provide graduates with a solid foundation in financial analysis, financial markets, financial planning, assets valuation, risks management, and economic theory, to enable them to pursue independent/corporate careers in the financial service industry. On the completion of this degree, you will have knowledge and understanding of:

Financial analysis for business entities, commercial banks, securities firms, and government agencies;
Investments, their risks, and their expected benefits;
Capital budgeting, operations and analysis;
Credit management, financial services, and retail brokerage sales;
Financial markets, financial planning and asset valuation; and
Risk management and economic theory.
