Langston University is pleased to share information about Oklahoma’s Promise Scholarship Program.

Oklahoma’s Promise allows high school students from families meeting certain income requirements to earn a college or technology center tuition scholarship. Students must also meet academic and conduct requirements in high school.

Qualifying high school and homeschool students can earn a tuition scholarship at state public universities. This includes Langston University, Oklahoma’s Historically Black College or University (HBCU)! 

As a public land-grand university, tuition and fees at Langston University are much more affordable than at larger public higher education institutions. Simply said, your financial aid goes further at Langston University! Many Oklahoma’s Promise recipients who enroll at Langston University graduate with little to no debt.

Created in 1992 by the Legislature to help more Oklahoma families send their children to college, Oklahoma’s Promise was originally designated as the Oklahoma Higher Learning Access Program. The program is administered by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

Oklahoma’s Promise – Recipient Requirements 

• Oklahoma residents enrolled in an Oklahoma high school.
• 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade students.
• The deadline for 12th graders to apply for the Oklahoma’s Promise Scholarship program is The deadline for 12^th graders to apply for Oklahoma’s Promise has been extended to December 31, 2025.  
• Students in 8th-11th grades are encouraged to apply by June 30, 2026. Homeschool applications must be electronically submitted or postmarked before the student’s 17th birthday.
• Students placed into Oklahoma DHS custody during the 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade who were unable to enroll in the program may enroll prior to their official date of high school graduation.
• 2.5 overall GPA for all courses in grades 9-12
• 2.5 GPA or better for required high school coursework
• Be a student whose parents’ federal adjusted gross income does not exceed:

$60,000 with 1 or 2 dependent children, OR
$70,000 with 3 or 4 dependent children, OR $80,000 with 5 or more dependent children
