2026 Annual Enrollment - What's New

It’s almost time for Langston University’s Annual Enrollment, happening October 27–November 7, 2025! During this period, you’ll have the opportunity to review your current benefits, make changes, and choose what works best for you and your family for the 2026 plan year (effective January 1, 2026).

What’s New or Different for 2026?

  • New Benefits Administration Platform – PlanSource

Sept. 1, 2025, we softly launched the use of the new benefit platform being used by all universities within the  Oklahoma A&M System. This system will streamline and enhance how employees manage their benefits, giving us the ability to enroll, verify and manage qualifying events in a system-wide solution.

The platform features educational videos and an AI-powered resource on the types of benefits the Oklahoma A&M System offers to support employees in making informed decisions about their benefits.

Your current elections have been transferred, and you may log in here and select Benefits: Enroll, Verify, Qualifying Event to review them.

If you believe there is an error in the information displayed, please contact Human Resources via email at luhumanresources@langston.edu with detailed information on the error.

  • Salary-banded tiers for medical plan premiums

This change is designed to ensure that healthcare costs are distributed across our institution, aligning premium contributions with income levels.

Salary tiers are only applicable to the Blue Cross Blue Shield medical plans. Dental and vision coverage remain unchanged.

  • 2026 Health Plan Premiums
  • Working Spouse Rule introduction

Starting with the 2026 plan year, spouses of Oklahoma A&M System benefits-eligible employees who are employed and have access to group health coverage through their own employer will no longer be eligible for coverage under the Oklahoma A&M System medical plan.

This practice, commonly called a “working spouse rule” by employers, is part of our ongoing efforts to manage rising healthcare costs while continuing to offer high-quality and cost-effective medical coverage to system employees.

Spouses without access to group coverage will remain eligible for coverage.

  • Increased contribution limits for Health Savings Accounts (HSA) and Dependent Care Accounts (DCA)
  • Higher individual deductible for the BlueEdge High Deductible Health Plan

    Deductibles will increase from $3,300 (2025) to $3,400 (2026)

  • Programs Being Retired
    • Medefy, the care navigation program
    • Ovia, the fertility care program through Blue Cross Blue Shield

ELIGIBLITY

If you are appointed to work at least a six month assignment and have 0.75 FTE or greater in an eligible staff or faculty employee position, you may participate in Langston University’s insurance plans.

All spouses and dependents recognized under applicable law are eligible for university benefits in accordance with the university’s plan documents. Review the Working Spouse Rule for specifics on covering a spouse.

Under healthcare reform, all group health plans and health insurance companies (including Langston University and BlueCross BlueShield) must offer group insurance to “adult” children who wish to remain covered under our health plan until the end of the month that the child turns 26 years old. This health benefit is not considered taxable income.

To be eligible for health, dental and vision plans, your adult child:

  • may be married or unmarried;
  • does not need to be enrolled as a student; and/or
  • may have a separate residence from you.
  • may be employed

Employees should carefully review the dependents they are covering on medical, dental and/or vision insurance. During Annual Enrollment, employees should drop coverage for anyone who does not meet the criteria listed for an eligible dependent.
